Cambodia, various regions

Cambodia, various regions

CONTEXT
Cambodia is still one of the few ‘least developed countries in the world with persistently high out-of-school rates. The local implementing partner, Child’s Dream has supported the construction of over 400 schools in the Mekong Sub-Region of Cambodia over the last two decades. The schools were built in very remote areas in the North of the country. Each completed school is handed over to the community and the ministry of education during an opening celebration. Though schooling is free in Cambodia, schools are chronically under-resourced, and parents lack funding to provide sufficient stationery to their own children.

PROJECT TITLE
Backpack with School Materials

CONSTRUCTION PERIOD
0 Months

GRANT AMOUNT REQUEST
900€ – 1.250€

IMPLEMENTING PARTNER
Child’s Dream Foundation

PROJECT
To support the school-going students with basic yet crucial resources, the local partner proposes to provide students with a fully-packed backpack during their school’s opening ceremony. This way, the students can have a successful start in their newly constructed school. Every backpack costs approximately EUR 4.5, and an average school has between 200 and 250 children. Hence the total budget for one school is between EUR 900 and EUR 1,250.–. This idea/project can be picked by donors as often as they want and in all sizes

IMPACT
The provision of backpacks filled with stationery will benefit as many students as the donor would like to support.
