Ghana 3, Tetrefu
The Ghanaian government has recently introduced free tuition, which has helped boost student enrollment. Previously, many families in this region could simply not afford to send their children to school as they often had to choose between food or school fees. Whilst this is a great governmental initiative, it has brought forward several challenges. For instance, the current infrastructure isn’t set up to cater to so many students, which is an urgent need that needs to be addressed.
Renovation of Dressmaking Workshop at Tetrefu ICCES Training Center
GRANT AMOUNT REQUEST
One Child Ghana
The renovation of the dressmaking workshop will enable dressmaking students to study in a more secure environment that is more conducive to learning. The renovation will cover:
- Fixing of the burglarproof system on windows and doors
- Changing wood casement windows to louvers
- Construction of a ceiling
- Improve electrical wiring to add more plug sockets
- Painting of the workshop
All of the above elements will help renovate the workshop, making it a much more attractive environment for students to study in.
The renovated workshop will immediately directly benefit the 35 students currently enrolled in the department. In the longer term, this will attract more female students to enroll, and it is expected that this number will increase significantly.
