Honduras 2, Sante Fe

Honduras 2, Sante Fe

CONTEXT
Honduras is one of the poorest countries in Latin America – more than half of the population lives in poverty. The country has one of the world’s highest murder rates and is frequently affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods. While the educational system has improved in recent years regarding primary education, access to secondary education is still very precarious. The Educational Sector Plan addresses this issue and aims to transform the school system. Still, this project aims to contribute to better schooling materials for the students at Santa Fe school directly.

PROJECT
Currently, the school does not have a multimedia room, so this project aims to achieve the following objective: “to organize the multimedia room to promote learning and to improve educational performance.” The school has the physical space to incorporate this room, so this project is primarily aimed at equipping the room with:

  • Data show
  • A computer, a screen, and speakers
  • Curtains
  • Tables, desk, and an office chair

IMPACT
Approximately 170 students attend Rancho Santa Fe from first to ninth grade. There are 28 teachers, including grade teachers, special teachers, administrative personnel and educational stimulation personnel. All these students and staff will benefit directly from the new science lab. Still, particular attention is paid to the empowerment of girls, who are generally underrepresented in the exact sciences.
