CONTEXT
Tanzania’s education system struggles with the provision of equal and quality education. Primary school children from wealthier families are three times more likely to attend school than children from poorer families. Most children, especially those in rural areas, enter primary school poorly prepared due to the lack of access to early stimulation, poor nutrition, and the low quality of pre-primary education. Therefore, school-going children often do not achieve foundational learning outcomes such as literacy, numeracy, and life skills, which determine future performance.

PROJECT
To prepare food for the students who have class throughout the day, the local partner proposes to construct a small school kitchen of 6×5 meters. The kitchen will be very useful for daily food preparations since the school currently cannot offer students food. The availability of a school kitchen will improve hygiene and reduce food-related diseases. Moreover, having food throughout the day allows the students to concentrate better in classes. This way, school performance is likely to improve.
IMPACT
Bonde la Faru Primary School currently has a total student population of 429 students, of which 229 are girls and 200 are boys. The provision of a kitchen and therefore ability to prepare food will primarily benefit this group of students.
