From Zero Experience to Full-Time Tech Roles
In just 12 months, these women completed our intensive Software Engineering Certificate Program. Today, every single graduate from Cohort 2 is employed in the tech sector—contributing to their teams and communities across East Africa and beyond.
They’ve gone from waitresses, shop attendants, or recent high school graduates to junior developers, IT engineers, and tech consultants. Their lives—and their families’ lives—have changed forever.
Daphine’s journey is shared by many in our cohort—proving how tech careers for African women fuel generational change.
Why Our Work Matters
By 2030, the global tech sector may face a shortage of 85 million skilled professionals. At the same time, millions of brilliant African women remain excluded from tech education and employment due to financial and structural barriers.
At Groundbreaker, we bridge this divide. Through our all-female residential campus, fully-funded scholarships, and job-focused mentorship, we create pathways for untapped talent to thrive in tech—where access is needed most.
