Cambodia is still, in many aspects, one of the least developed countries in Southeast Asia. Development is not evenly distributed in the country and many rural communities remain predominantly in poverty- stricken as corruption and self-interest impede the country’s growth. Damnak Themy Village is located in Ta Kong Commune Malai District, Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia. The village has a population of 1,037 residents living in 248 households. The majority of the residents rely on subsistence farming and plantation work to earn a living.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
Damnak Thmey Primary School, founded in 2001, caters to primary school students aged five to 12 years old and employs 10 teachers. One of the schools is made out of wood, which has become severely rotten and is on the verge of collapsing. To address this issue, the project is aimed at supporting the Damnak Thmey Village with the construction of one new concrete school building with four fully-furnished classrooms to replace the dilapidated wooden building. This will allow students to learn in a safe and motivating environment, encouraging them to finish their primary level education.
