Tracy

I used to feel lost and unsure about my future, juggling small jobs with much work,  little pay and constant exhaustion. I didn’t even know what software engineers really did — I thought it meant repairing computers. Groundbreaker put me on the right path, sponsored my training, and opened a world I never imagined. With zero tech knowledge but plenty of passion, I learned to build and maintain apps from scratch. Today, I’m proud to work as a Software Engineer at Xylophone Technologies — an opportunity my younger self would never have dared to dream about.

Melissa

Before joining Groundbreaker Talents, I felt uncertain about my future and had little direction. Within just one year, I discovered my passion for tech, learnt programming and built confidence. Now, I’m proud to work as a Junior Software Engineer at Lwegatech, creating digital solutions. It’s unbelievable to my younger self who I’ve become — this journey proved to me that with the right support, anything is possible. Thanks to this scholarship, I now know exactly where I’m headed.

Sandra

After high school, I struggled to secure a job in tech due to limited resources and only theoretical knowledge — no laptop, no stable internet, and no conducive environment to learn. The one-year Groundbreaker Talents program changed everything: I received a laptop, unlimited internet, hands-on experience, mentorship, and a supportive space to grow. Today, I’m proud to be a woman in tech – working as a Software Developer at the Africa Centre for Applied Digital Health, building real-world solutions.

Before Groundbreaker, I knew almost nothing about tech. I joined with no coding experience-just the determination to change my future. The hands-on training and support opened a whole new world for me. Today, I’m a Graduate Trainee at Interswitch East Africa, growing my skills in fintech and learning from some of the best. Every day, I’m stepping closer to the kind of impact I always dreamed of making.

Immaculate

I joined Groundbreaker Talents with zero tech knowledge and only a vague idea of what “software engineering” meant – I just knew l’d be working with a computer. I couldn’t have imagined the challenges and growth ahead. Fast forward one year, and I’m now working internationally as a Software Engineer for a Japanese company, embracing a new culture and contributing as a full-stack developer with a diverse skill set. Groundbreakers’ support has truly changed my life.
